Jean Rene Bazaine (French, 1904–2001) was a painter, designer of stained glass windows, and a writer. Bazaine was born on December 21, 1904 in Paris, France. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts and the Sorbonne in Paris, obtaining degrees and certificates in philosophy, literature, and art.

Jean Rene Bazaine (French, 1904–2001) was a painter, designer of stained glass windows, and a writer. Bazaine was born on December 21, 1904 in Paris, France. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts and the Sorbonne in Paris, obtaining degrees and certificates in philosophy, literature, and art.
Bazaine first showed his artwork in a group show that included Jean Fautrier, Edouard Goerg, and Marcel Gromaire at the Galerie Jeanne Castel in Paris in 1930. His first solo show was at the Galerie Van Leer in Paris in 1932. In 1941, after returning from the army, Bazaine organized an avant-garde show at the Galerie Braun Paris titled Vingt Jeaunes Peintres de Tradition Française. In 1949 and 1950, he had his first major one-man show at the Galerie Maeght. Major retrospectives of Baizaine's work were held at the Musée Matisse in 1988 and the Galeries Nationales de Grand Palais in Paris in 1990.
Jean René Bazaine died on March 4, 2001 in Clamart, France. His work is included in major museums and collections worldwide.
