  • Double Door by Hiroyuki Tajima. A signed limited edition woodblock print titled, Double Door circa 1973, by Japanese printmaker from the esteemed Sōsaku-Hanga school, Hiroyuki Tajima (1911–1984). Tajima is best known for his abstract woodblock prints that feature luminous colors, bold compositions and a strong sense of balance inspired by his Zen Buddhist beliefs. This woodcut depicts a large green rectangle with a teal top that is surrounded by a grey/brown border and has several thin white and blue strips stacked side by side near the center. This piece is pencil signed and dated by the artist in the lower right margin and is numbered “50-14” to the center with the title written to the left in English as well as Japanese. The print has a single white mat and is housed behind plexiglass in a simple metal frame with a wire for hanging to the verso.

    Size: 25.5" w x 28.75" h x 1.0" d. Visible image measures approximately 18.75" w x 22.5" h.
Condition: Excellent. Minor scratches to plexiglass and frame. Viewable print is in excellent condition. Has now been examined outside of frame.
